Digestive issues are very common in horses due to a multitude of factors, including nutrition, stress, management and competition. These issues can range from gastric ulcers within the glandular and non-glandular portion of the stomach, to imbalance in the gut microbiome and hind gut issues and ulcers. Check out our blog for more insight about the factors affecting digestion function in horses.
How does the Equine Digestion Bar work?
The ingredients in the Equine Digestion Bar help to maintain healthy digestive function in the horse. Specifically they contain natural ingredients chosen for their potential to reduce stomach acid, promote healing, reduce inflammation, address bad bacteria and promote good bacteria. The bars are easy to feed and palatable to most horses. Importantly, they are vacuum sealed to maintain the integrity of the ingredients, and can be stored in the short term in the fridge or long term (up to 6 months) in the freezer.
How do I use the Equine Digestion Bars with my horse?
To support healthy digestive function, we recommend that the bars are initially fed twice per day for the first 2 weeks. The frequency can then be reduced to 1 bar per day for a further 2 weeks. During this time, we also recommend that the digestive system of the horse is further supported with preventative management practices during the high risk periods of work and travel (e.g. our Digestive Support Elixir either syringed, or fed in damp chaff; or use of our Equine Pre-work Bars). After the initial month's course, the Equine Digestion Bars can be fed daily to support a healthy digestive function, and frequency increased to twice daily during times of stress that may disrupt normal digestive function (e.g. travel, competition etc )
