Equine UT Bars

How common are urinary tract issues in horses?

Does your horse have trouble urinating? Do they appear in pain? Do they 'squirt' repeatedly, even if not in season? If the answer is yes, then they may be suffering from a urinary tract infection, or UTI.

Bladder infections, such as cystitis can occur in horses due to contamination of the urinary tract by bacteria from external sources. Some horses are more pre-disposed to this condition, for example if the locations of the vulva and anus lead to a higher risk of contamination with fecal matter. Infection of the bladder can cause the horse to urinate more frequently, and show signs of pain, whereas infection of the kidney can cause severe pain and sometimes fever.

Why use the Equine UT bars

Prevention is always better than the cure and this is where the Equine UT bars come in. The Equine UT bars contain a unique combination of ingredients designed to maintain a healthy urinary tract. Cranberries are a well known treatment for preventing urinary tract infections, so naturally are a core ingredient in the Equine UT bars. Stinging nettle herb and dandelion root are natural diuretics (i.e. stimulates production and passing of urine) and work with the high vitamin C content of blackcurrant juice to help to maintain the health of the urinary tract.
